Jessica Waldron is a passionate force in Western Australia’s culinary and wine scene, co-owner of Margaret River’s celebrated Normal Van restaurant and the creator and winemaker behind Jingalup Wines.

Originally driven by a love for hospitality and an ambition to become a sommelier, Jessica’s journey led her from the dining room floor to the gentle slopes of the vineyard. 

With Jingalup Wines, Jessica champions the art of small batch winemaking.

She sources select parcels of outstanding single vineyard grapes, nurturing each lot with care to craft expressive wines that embody a true sense of time and place. Her commitment to minimal intervention—rooted in traditional old world techniques and inspired by classic European wines—shines through every bottle, reflecting both her reverence for nature and her winemaking philosophy.

Jingalup Wines draws its name and inspiration from the small township of Jingalup, nestled 19 kilometers from Kojonup in regional Western Australia. While the town itself is modest—home to a tennis club, a Telstra exchange, and an old school hall surrounded by farmland—its significance runs deep. The land carries a layered history: from the untold stories of the Kaneang people, who have called this region home for over 45,000 years, to generations of settlers who have gathered here for tea, afternoon tennis, and everyday moments that stitch together the fabric of community life. 

For us, Jingalup is more than just a geographic namesake; it is a symbol of connection and continuity. Spaces like Jingalup may not always be bustling or conventionally beautiful, but they hold an energy and a place in the hearts and journeys of many. My family’s roots in this area—farming, dreaming, moving on—echo the essence of winemaking itself: capturing a moment in time, a sense of place, and the privilege of honoring the past while shaping the future. Naming the winery Jingalup is a tribute to this heritage, encapsulating the spirit of a place where stories unfold quietly, yet meaningfully, year after year. ​
